Relationships and communication have always been important to me. In my forties, I came across Marshall Rosenberg’s book ‘Nonviolent Communication – A Language of Life‘ and was intrigued. I began to learn that good listening was key, and that ‘listening’ was not simply waiting for the other person to finish speaking so that I could offer advice.

Discovering the power of empathy has transformed my relationships with others and with myself. Knowing first-hand that such skills and attitudes can be learned at any age, I am keen to share this learning with others.

I am a law graduate, with a background in community work, who discovered Nonviolent Communication (NVC) in 2015. I am now an NVC trainer and also a CNVC certification candidate.

I qualified in person-centred counselling in 2019 and continue to practise as a counsellor. I’ve worked as an advocate in health and social care, helping vulnerable people to get their voices heard. I have a particular interest in conflict transformation, and I trained in restorative systems (including Restorative Circles) and more recently, in mediation. I volunteer as a mediator with Place for Hope.

I long for a just and peaceful world where everyone matters and is able to flourish. As my small contribution towards this, I help people to get along better with one another and with themselves. I do this by offering training, coaching and counselling with an emphasis on communication skills and the NVC process.
